DiJonai Carrington surprised her Connecticut Sun teammate Marina Mabrey with a thoughtful gesture after her lighthearted joke at Mabrey’s expense. Mabrey’s career earnings are $639,881 per Spotrac. During a practice session for Unrivaled, Carrington gave Mabrey a set of seasoning ingredients, capturing her reaction on X, previously known as Twitter.

“alright y’all I had to run to the store and get my girl right!! just a lil starter pack ! don’t worry , ima show her how to use em 😫😫😂❤️❤️,” Carrington tweeted.

“You made me smile, I was sad before you came over here,” Mabrey said in the video shared by Carrington.

This gesture followed DiJonai Carrington’s playful response to Marina Mabrey’s post on X earlier that day. Mabrey had shared a photo of avocado oil spray, black pepper, and pink salt, humorously claiming, “I can finally coook.” Carrington retweeted the post, teasing Mabrey about her culinary skills.

“BAHAHAHAHAHAHA dawg, I spit my drink out. wtf are you making with these 3 things bro??? 😭😭 i gotta getchu right omg,” Carrington tweeted.

While currently teammates on the Connecticut Sun, DiJonai Carrington and Marina Mabrey will be rivals in Unrivaled. Carrington will play for Mist BC, while Mabrey will represent Phantom BC in the upcoming inaugural season of the 3×3 women’s basketball league, starting on Jan. 17 in Miami.

DiJonai Carrington celebrated her 27th birthday, with her Unrivaled teammates showering her with warm wishes. Mist BC’s social media featured a birthday post with teammates like Breanna Stewart, Jewell Loyd, Courtney Vandersloot, Aaliyah Edwards, and Rickea Jackson sharing their messages.

“Hi, Nai. Happy birthday! Excited to be your teammate. Seatbelt,” Stewart said.

“Happy birthday, Nai,” Edwards said, demonstrating the seatbelt celebration. “We’re doing all season.”

“Happy birthday, Nai Nai,” Jackson added.

DiJonai Carrington expressed her gratitude to her Mist BC teammates in the comment section:

Coming off her best WNBA season, DiJonai Carrington averaged 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. She shot 40.3% from the field and 25.0% from beyond the arc as the Connecticut Sun secured the third seed but were eliminated in the semifinals.
