Authorities have arrested Caitlin Clark’s alleged stalker.
Michael Lewis, a resident of Denton, Texas, was arrested in Indianapolis on Jan. 12 for sending over a dozen messages to the WNBA star on X (formerly Twitter) that were of both a sexual and threatening nature, as reported by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office on Jan. 13, according to the Indy Star.
The 55-year-old man has been charged with stalking, with his arrest affidavit containing at least 15 examples of messages he allegedly sent to Clark, who is 22 years old, as detailed by the Indy Star.
One of the messages mentioned in the affidavit stated, “Got banned from caitbridge (sic). Im sorry. But maybe I go to ur road games…its ok right?”
If convicted, Lewis could face a prison sentence ranging from one to six years and a fine of up to $10,000.
Authorities were able to track down Lewis by tracing his IP address to a hotel located less than a mile away from Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where the Indiana Fever, the team Clark plays for, often have games.
Detectives noted in the affidavit that Lewis’s presence in Indianapolis was especially concerning, given that he is a resident of Texas.
E! has reached out to Clark and authorities for comment but has not received a response.
