George Russell has experienced his first Mercedes crash of the year, but he managed to see the funny side of it.
The Mercedes Formula 1 driver posted a series of pictures showing him driving a road car on a snow drift in Sweden.
Even during the winter break, it seems these F1 drivers can’t resist the need for speed.
“I couldn’t wait until next month to get behind the wheel again,” Russell joked as he shared a picture of a stuck Mercedes in the snow.
“This place always amazes me! Driving on the frozen lakes of Sweden is always incredible.
“Limits are meant to be pushed after all!”
Russell also shared footage of himself reaching 200km/h while driving on the frozen lake.
George Russell becomes Mercedes’ new senior driver
2025 will bring significant changes for Russell.
With Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, Mercedes now operates without the most successful driver in F1 history.
Last year, Russell outperformed his teammate Hamilton in qualifying on Saturdays.
Russell finished sixth in the drivers’ championship, just ahead of Hamilton.
This year, Russell takes on the role of Mercedes’ senior driver in Hamilton’s absence.
He will be challenged by rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Antonelli is highly regarded by Toto Wolff, but his F1 performance is yet to be seen.
