Floyd Mayweather appeared at a sparring session this week, five months after his last ring appearance.
The boxing legend, who turns 48 next month, stood alongside current boxing star Terence Crawford and promoter Eddie Hearn. The image was taken at a Shakur Stevenson workout in Las Vegas, where Mayweather caught the headlines for the wrong reasons.
As fans questioned his political hat, Mayweather’s looks stole the show as some commented on how the five-weight world champion had aged.
One said, “Damn, Floyd looks old.” While another stated, “This is the first time I’m recognizing Floyd’s age. It’s a huge difference from the last time I saw him.”
A third stated, “If anyone thinks Floyd Mayweather is making a comeback, then think again after looking at this picture.”
Mayweather has always been one of those fighters who gained notice for how youthful he was and how he could potentially return to the ring to beat the current champions. However, judging by the latest images from Las Vegas, Mayweather’s career inside the ropes may finally be over.
The last time Mayweather earned cash boxing was for a Mexican exhibition against John Gotti III. The amount he earned for the controversial rematch has never been disclosed. There were reports that the Grand Rapids-born star lost $1 million for not attending a press conference and subsequently pulled ex-foe Victor Ortiz out of the headliner. However, Ortiz did fight on the undercard and was again rumored to be Floyd’s next opponent.
Whether that transpires in the current climate remains to be seen, as Mayweather creates headlines for the wrong reasons.
