Isabelle Harrison, a current captain with Athletes Unlimited’s basketball league and former forward for the Chicago Sky, has signed a new deal with the New York Liberty. The announcement was shared by the team on Friday afternoon. Harrison was an unsung hero for the Sky in 2024. Playing in relief of Angel Reese is no easy task, especially on the glass, but Harrison was a very solid scorer for Chicago in her 16.3 minutes on the floor. Her ability to act as a perfect anchor for the bench with Chicago at the nail was also helpful to unlocking Chennedy Carter’s strengths as a scorer and driver. Harrison averaged 6.5 points per game along with 3.9 rebounds, but shot a career-low 39.9 percent from the field in 2024. However, do not let that take away from her ability to create her own shot and as a great compliment to a speedy guard like Carter. If a team is looking to add a versatile forward to their roster, Harrison would be a great veteran to take a shot on.
While she didn’t stretch the floor in a way that the Sky really needed, her soft shooting touch and screening helped to make her a very integral part to Chicago’s offense. On defense, she can definitely just use more time on the court to make more of an impact against other forwards.
Harrison adds welcomed depth to the Liberty’s bench. Kayla Thornton was the team’s prior go-to forward off the bench in 2024, but she was selected by the Golden State Valkyries during the expansion draft. The team now has Harrison, Kennedy Burke, and Nyara Sabally to turn to off the bench for forward depth.
