The stars of college basketball’s past will play one last game at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on May 2. Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, and the Chicago Sky head to LSU to play the Brazilian National Team in a special WNBA preseason game.Â
Reese played with LSU in two seasons from 2022-24, leading the Tigers to its first NCAA Championship. She ended her LSU career as the leader in most career rebounds per game (14.4).Â
Reese was a rebound machine in the WNBA, breaking the record for most rebounds (446) in a rookie season. She also set the record for consecutive double-doubles with 15. Reese could have broken the general record for most rebounds in a season if she didn’t have a wrist injury to end her rookie campaign.Â
“I’m very excited the Sky will play a preseason game at LSU,” Reese said in a release. “It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me. LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA, and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans!”

A key figure in two NCAA Championship wins for South Carolina, Cardoso was right behind Reese in stats with the Sky her rookie season. And she is plenty familiar with the Brazil National Team. Cardoso won gold with the team at the 2023 FIBA AmeriCup, where she won MVP and the 2022 South American Championship.Â
Cardoso is ready to enhance her skills in the WNBA, first against a familiar team.Â
“I am so excited to play against my former Brazilian national team,” Cardoso said. “Brazil has played such an important role in my life and has shaped the person I am today. Playing for the Sky against my former team gives me a wonderful opportunity to connect with my roots and play in front of old friends and teammates back home.”
