X Games has appointed Annie Lokesh as Head of X Games League, bringing her expertise in business transformation, league operations and growth strategy to the highly anticipated launch of the world’s first multi-sport action sports league in 2026.
Annie Lokesh will be responsible for overseeing XGL league operations, growth initiatives, and shaping the business model and competitive structure of this groundbreaking new format.
“Annie’s experience leading large-scale transformations in professional sports makes her the perfect choice to helm the X Games League,” says Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “She has a proven track record of building sustainable business models, elevating athlete platforms, and expanding global reach. With her leadership, we’re not just launching a league—we’re redefining the future of action sports.”
Lokesh joins X Games from the WNBA, where she served as Business Transformation Director, playing a critical role in the league’s evolution. She was instrumental in orchestrating the WNBA’s historic $75 million capital raise, part of a multi-faceted financial growth strategy designed to generate new revenue through increased investment in priority areas. Her leadership extended to developing high-growth strategies, managing complex change initiatives, and driving the WNBA’s human capital agenda. Additionally, she established the Office of the Commissioner, centralizing league operations and communication to drive efficiency and scale.
Prior to her tenure at the WNBA, Lokesh was a consultant at Deloitte, where she specialized in transformation strategy and crisis communication, advising organizations on high-impact growth initiatives. She is also deeply committed to mentorship, working with WISE and the Tory Burch Foundation to support emerging leaders in sports and business.
“I am honored to join X Games at such a pivotal time and to lead the launch of the X Games League,” says Lokesh. “By launching the first-ever team-based action sports league, we’re creating a sustainable opportunity for athletes and team owners. Building on the existing X Games’ global brand, we’re setting the stage for an innovative team competition that has the power to engage the next generation of fans who crave content that’s both easy to digest and full of unexpected thrills. XGL will redefine action sports, elevate world class athletes to new heights, and deliver an unforgettable experience for fans worldwide.”
The X Games League, set to debut in 2026, will transform X Games into a year-round, team-based sports property, featuring both winter and summer teams competing at events around the world. Each event will include individual competitions, but athletes will also contribute to an overall team title, marking a fundamental shift in the structure of action sports. Compensation opportunities will extend well beyond the $2.4 million already awarded through prize purses, with additional earning potential for athletes as part of the league’s team model.
The first-ever XGL Draft will take place later this year, setting the stage for an entirely new era of competition and fan engagement. Annie Lokesh’s appointment underscores X Games’ commitment to innovation, athlete empowerment, and long-term league sustainability.
