Conor McGregor has thrown his hat in the ring to become the next President of Ireland, but oddsmakers are not giving the former UFC champion a chance in hell of winning any potential run at office.
Earlier this week, “Notorious” made a highly-public visit to the White House to speak with President of the United States Donald Trump about Ireland’s ongoing issues with immigration, foreign spending, and other key factors currently affecting the Green Isle. McGregor went as far as comparing Ireland to USA’s “little bro” and asked for Trump’s immediate assistance.
The Irish government wasn’t too happy.
McGregor left his meeting with Trump completely fired up and ready to take full control of Ireland’s presidential throne. The former UFC double champion has publicly mulled over the idea of running for president in the past, but things feel a little different this time. With no UFC return in the works maybe McGregor does in fact take a stab at politics and tries to follow in Trump’s footsteps as a larger-than-life figure popular enough to become the leader of a country.
With no background in politics and recent legal issues still looming over his head, it does seem very unlikely that McGregor would be able to round up enough votes to actually become the next President of Ireland. Maybe that’s why oddsmakers have set the bar pretty high for “Notorious” at this point in time.
