The stars are out Monday night at the Sprite Jam dunk contest. One of the players competing is BYU signee and former Five-Star Plus+ prospect AJ Dybantsa. Hoping to take home the crown, Dybantsa brought in quite the basketball name to dunk over.

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese saw Dybansta fly over her before finishing with a one-handed slam. Reese was positioned at the top of the restricted area, standing tall at 6’3. While Dybansta did have to elevate by placing his hand on her shoulder, Reese walked away impressed.

The two then celebrated the dunk afterward with a high-five. Reese then seemingly pointed toward the judges, asking them to give the future college basketball star a perfect score of 10. You can check out the full moment here.

Dybantsa played high school basketball at Utah Prep, where he was a Five-Star Plus+ prospect. However, Brockton, MA, is considered his original hometown. He was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

While it might just be a dunk contest in late March, Dybantsa is showing off some of the athletic ability at his disposal. It’s why nearly every high-major college basketball program was after him during the recruiting process. Ultimately, BYU was the one to win out with Alabama, Kansas, and North Carolina also in the running.

“The No. 1 player in the 2025 class, AJ Dybantsa, showcased a powerful arsenal,” On3’s Jamie Shaw said in a scouting report in November 2024. “He has a dynamic offensive game at a lengthy 6-foot-9 and he showed a full array of scoring moves when he was playing 18 feet and in. Dybantsa has excellent footwork in the mid-post. He was able to utilize different upfakes and step-throughs to create clean opportunities for himself.”

As for Reese, she is not too far away from getting a second season with Chicago underway. May 17 will be the opener, going up against a familiar foe in Caitlin Clark. Indiana will host Chicago with ABC broadcasting the game. No better way to kick off the league’s nightly slate than with two of their biggest stars.

Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game as a rookie. Named to the WNBA All-Star game, she finished second in Rookie of the Year voting behind Clark as well.
