Lake Nona, FL – The opening day of play is now complete at the 2025 ITA National Wheelchair Tennis Championship as all nine teams hit the courts for the first two rounds of pool play at the USTA National Campus.
On the day, six teams went unbeaten each finishing 1-0 on the day, while three teams finished 0-2 and will look to pick up a win in Saturday’s consolation draw. Tomorrow, all six 1-0 finishers will face off to determine the three teams advancing out of pool play while the top two second place finishers will play in a playoff match to determine the fourth semifinalist.
Defending champions, Houston, started their tournament off in a strong way sweeping Michigan State to set up a clash with Arizona on Friday. Meanwhile, the winningest program in National Wheelchair Tennis Championship history in Alabama took down Clemson on Thursday and will meet Virginia next for a spot in the semifinals. Finally, second-seeded Michigan earned a win over first-time participants, Cincinnati, and will take on Auburn tomorrow.
Play will once again begin at 9 am (EST) on Friday will the last round of pool play leading off the day. At 1:30 pm (EST) the top two second place finishers will face off in a playoff to determine the four semifinalists for Saturday.
