Mario Kart World is the Nintendo Switch 2’s big launch title, and it’s not hard to see why — Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was by far the best-selling Switch game, and it wasn’t even new. World looks to be stepping it up a lot, with a big, open world to explore, new game modes, and of course, plenty of characters to play as.
50 characters have been confirmed for Mario Kart World so far, with a mix of returning characters and all-new characters, including some instant fan favorites like Cow. We’ve put together this list of every character confirmed for Mario Kart World, including returning characters, new characters, and characters we’ve seen in past games that are missing — so far, at least.
The following confirmed playable characters have appeared in past games as playable characters, and are playable again in Mario Kart World.

The following characters have appeared in prior Mario Kart games as playable characters, but have not been shown in any official footage or assets for Mario Kart World. Note that some of these characters, such as Kamek, do appear in the game, but aren’t shown to be playable characters.
