Nika Muhl was selected in the second round of the 2024 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm after a four-year run at UConn, where she played alongside now-Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers.
In her rookie season, Muhl didn’t see the court much, appearing in 16 games and averaging just 3.6 minutes, 0.1 points, 0.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game.

Like many WNBA players, Muhl chose to play overseas in the offseason to stay in shape and continue developing her game. The 24-year-old joined Besiktas J.K. in Turkey, but during the FIBA SuperCup Women’s Final in October against Fenerbahçe SK, she suffered a torn ACL while coming down with a rebound.
Muhl has been rehabbing since then and was even spotted walking at Monday’s 2025 WNBA draft, showing support for Bueckers and her former UConn teammates.

On Friday, the Storm officially ruled Muhl out for the entire 2025 WNBA season, according to Christian Braswell of CirclingSports.
ACL tears typically take eight to nine months to fully recover from, so this news was expected. Still, fans took to social media on Friday to send heartfelt messages to the 6-foot Storm guard.
