While everyone is pumped up for the 2025 draft, the Phoenix Mercury aren’t too excited, as they were left without a first-round pick. This is due to a trade Phoenix made back in 2023, which left the New York Liberty with swap rights — Phoenix had the No. 12 pick traded, leaving them with no pick for the 2025 WNBA Draft.

The Mercury have made it clear they chose established veterans over young, unproven talent. With these actions in place, it’s clear Mercury holds very high standards when it comes to leadership, experience and stability.
However, the Mercury have time to prepare and recover from any in-season or postseason inconveniences, as their next game isn’t until Saturday, May 17, at 9 p.m. ET against Seattle at the Footprint Center.
