MiLaysia Fulwiley To Play for LSU Tigers

On Friday, MiLaysia Fulwiley announced on her Instagram that she will play for the LSU Tigers.

She spent the first two seasons of her collegiate career playing under Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks and was a part of the 2024 National Championship team.

Fulwiley said on her Instagram post, “Geaux Tigers,” while announcing her commitment to play for head coach Kim Mulkey and LSU.

In her first two years with the Gamecocks, Fulwiley averaged 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, shooting 43.1 percent from the field and played in 76 games and started three.

Fulwiley will have the chance to enhance her resume and become a starter with LSU.

Flau’Jae Johnson Announced Return to LSU

Annie Costabile of Front Office Sports first reported that guard Flau’Jae Johnson will return to play for the Tigers for her senior season after reports of a “major announcement” speculation on her social media.

“Yes, I’m coming back to LSU,” Johnson said to Costabile Wednesday. “I definitely want to win, but I want to make sure I’m being developed to be the player that I want to be in the WNBA.”

Johnson also posted a three-word tweet upon learning about Fulwiley’s announcement to play for the Tigers, “With the butter.” Mulkey was also excited about landing Fulwiley through the transfer portal on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Throughout the last season, Johnson appeared in 34 games for the Tigers, averaging 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 46.8 percent from the field. She was also named to the All-SEC First Team this past season.

LSU entered the NCAA Women’s Tournament as the third seed in the Spokane 1 Regional and fell to the No. 1 UCLA Bruins in the Elite Eight. With the return of guards Johnson and Mikaylah Williams and the addition of guard Fulwiley, the Tigers will look to make another run to the Women’s Final Four in 2025-26.

Since Mulkey took over the LSU Tigers women’s basketball program in 2021, she has led the team to its first National Championship in program history in 2023. The team has made four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including three trips to the Elite Eight.

Mulkey is beginning her fifth season as the head coach of the Tigers, following 21 successful seasons with the Baylor Lady Bears. During her tenure at Baylor, she led the team to three National Championships, setting a high standard for the women’s basketball program in Waco by developing standout players like Brittney Griner and Odyssey Sims.

The trio of Fulwiley, Johnson, and Williams in the Tigers’ backcourt is a trio fans will watch closely during the 2025-26 women’s college basketball season.
