Paolo Banchero will be eligible for a contract extension this offseason and sounds ready to commit his future to the Orlando Magic. In 46 games this season, Banchero averaged 25.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Banchero almost certainly will sign for the five-year max with the Magic with the only potential question being whether he receives the Rose rule designation that could bring the value up from 25 percent to 30 percent. The Magic previously signed Franz Wagner to an extension with the Rose rule signaling a precedent to also do so with Banchero.
“I love it here man,” said Banchero. “I think in the last year or so, I’ve been able to get myself settled in here and get more comfortable. It’s a place that I love spending time here. My family loves spending time here. And I couldn’t be more happy to be a part of the Orlando Magic. So I look forward to hopefully spending a lot more years here.”
Banchero is represented by agent Mike Miller and was the top overall pick in the 2022 draft out of Duke.
