During the 2024 WNBA season, guard Chennedy Carter emerged as a key player for the Chicago Sky, leading the team in scoring with 17.5 points per game, a career high.
Despite a solid fourth season for Carter, an incident involving Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark stood out to many. The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year came into the league and became arguably the most popular player, which may have rubbed some the wrong way, including Carter.

In the Sky’s 71-70 June 1 loss against the Fever, Carter notably knocked Clark to the floor as Aliyah Boston was looking to pass the ball in, giving her a flagrant foul.
Carter’s response after the game: “I ain’t answering no Caitlin Clark questions.”

Fast forward to Friday, Carter, who saw her one-year deal with the Sky come to an end following the season, has yet to sign with a WNBA team. With training camp right around the corner, Carter has elected to join a different league while she awaits another shot at the WNBA.
Carter has taken her talents to the Mexican Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional Femini (LNBPF), where she has signed with Adelitas De Chihuahua (Chihuahua, Mexico).

Adelitas De Chihuahua was one of the top teams during the 2024 LNBPF season, securing the best regular-season record, according to Latin Basket. They made it all the way to the finals, but blew a 2-0 lead to finish the season just short of a title.
Adelitas De Chihuahua announced Carter’s signing on Instagram, highlighting numerous achievements from her professional basketball career.
Joining Carter on Adelitas De Chihuahua is guard Victoria Vivian, who spent six seasons with the Fever before joining the Seattle Storm in 2024.
Carter could certainly become a star in the LNBPF. Through four years in the WNBA, she averaged 14.6 points on 47.3% shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists. Although she is a gifted scorer, a reason she may be out of the NBA for now is her previous “poor conduct.”

This is not the first time Carter has played in a league outside of the WNBA, but it is her first time playing in Mexico. The former Texas A&M standout has previously played in Turkey, Poland, and, most recently, China. After the 2024 WNBA season, she joined Wuhan Shengfan, where she averaged 31.4 points per game, by far the highest on the team.
