In her return to the PMAC for a WNBA preseason game, Angel Reese reflected on her time with LSU women’s basketball and how the program set her up for a professional career.
In two years playing for head coach Kim Mulkey, the All-American forward grew as a player thanks to the tough love and credits it for her success with the Chicago Sky.

“She prepared me for the WNBA,” Reese said of Mulkey. “She’s going to tell you what it is and keep it real with you. In the moment, I hated it, but when I left, I was really thankful for that.”
After helping LSU win its first national championship and another NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance, Reese declared for the WNBA and was drafted No. 7 overall by the Sky. She subsequently turned in one of the best rookie performances on record.
In her first professional season, Reese led the WNBA with 13.1 rebounds per game to go along with her per-game average of 13.6 points. Alongside former LSU teammate and Sky rookie Hailey Van Lith, Reese will look to lead her team to the postseason. The team finished tenth in the league last year.
