The Indiana Fever looked like one of the better teams in the WNBA during the 2025 preseason, recording the best record in the league with a perfect 3-0.

Caitlin Clark continued her stellar play from her All-WNBA rookie season, leading the team in scoring and assists. However, it was Lexie Hull and Sophie Cunningham who won fans over with their performance.

Hull finished the preseason averaging 12.0 points on 57.1% 3-point shooting, 3.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists. Cunningham, who was acquired from the Phoenix Mercury over the offseason as part of a multi-team deal, added 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

Cunningham impressed off the bench in the first two preseason wins, earning a starting spot in the finale. However, the sharpshooter was forced to leave the final game early after sustaining an ankle injury.

But Hull didn’t seem too concerned about Cunningham’s injury, even though she was seen in a walking boot after the win over the Atlanta Dream. In fact, on Wednesday, Hull pointed out a different issue with her new teammate, saying people confuse her with Cunningham “a lot.”

“It’s funny, today I got breakfast and, like you said, someone said ‘good morning Sophie,’ Hull commented. “I didn’t correct them, just kept moving on with my day. But that’s happened a lot, not only from people in the city but also our staff…especially on film, it’s hard. So it’s going to be a funny little bit throughout the season.”

Cunningham quickly became a fan favorite for Indiana after a 21-point, eight-rebound outing in her Fever debut, showing her competitive spirit in the process. But her injury could keep her out for the first few games of the regular season.

Still, the Fever made enough moves to be competitive without their new guard, adding veterans DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard to the rotation, along with 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year Stephanie White.

Indiana will take on the Chicago Sky in the regular season opener at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET.
