Creative Assembly has followed up on yesterday’s Tides of Torment DLC reveal with an official confirmation that Sayl the Faithless will be the second Legendary Lord featured in the upcoming expansion. Sayl, of course, will bring Norsca into the fray — a faction in dire need of some love.
Sayl the Faithless, uncommonly for a Norscan, is not all about bravery on the frontlines. He’s a manipulator, a cunning operator who betrays anything and anyone to increase his own power. He’ll be a powerful spell caster in the game, having access to two Lores of Magic players will get to pick and choose powers from — an experiment by the developers. True to his attitude in the lore, Sayl’s campaign mechanics revolve around planning and then executing betrayals.
CA showed off a few of the units Sayl will bring into the game. Naturally, first and foremost of these is Nightmaw — the ugly Chaos Spawn resulting from the betrayal we witnessed in the teaser trailer for Tides of Torment.
Fimir Nobles will be another addition, complementing Norsca’s line-up of hero characters and buffing other Fimir units in battle.
Of course, Sayl is not coming in without a big monster showpiece — and in his case, that’s the Chimera.
As has become tradition, CA will deliver some major overhauls to the races featured in the DLC and for Norsca these will not only affect the overall race, but also specific factions within. These changes will touch on the Monstrous Arcanum (including additional hunts), Chaos God Allegiances, and Confederation mechanics.
When it comes to faction-specific mechanics, Wulfrik’s Seafang will get reworked to be present on the campaign map and allow for much stronger raiding gameplay. Throgg will get a mechanic that allows him to make better use of monsters and trolls, calling them to his banners. Both of the Legendary Lords will receive updated voicelines as well.
Sayl and Norsca join the already revealed Dechala the Denied One and her Daemons of Slaanesh, which leaves one more Legendary Lord and faction to be revealed — for which the High Elves with Aislinn the Sea Lord have been pegged as the favorite candidate by players.
Tides of Tormet is set to be released later in Summer 2025.
