2-Time WNBA Champ Leaves With Bloody Nose During Mystics-Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

On Tuesday, the Indiana Fever hosted the Washington Mystics, the third straight game they didn’t have their best player, Caitlin Clark. Despite Clark’s absence, the Fever outlasted the Mystics and secured their first win without the All-Star guard. Indiana had an 85-76 victory over Washington to snap a three-game losing skid.

Kelsey Mitchell had a team-high 24 points on a 7-for-14 shooting clip. The two-time All-Star also had two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Lexie Hull helped the team with her 14 points on 50% shooting from deep.

With their performance, Indiana improved to a 3-4 record in the regular season.

In the middle of the first quarter, however, there was an unfortunate injury for the Fever. Two-time WNBA champion Sydney Colson had an on-court collision with Mystics guard Brittney Sykes.

Washington’s two-way guard drove to the basket and fell to the ground as she drew a defensive foul on Colson. However, the former Las Vegas Aces guard immediately had her hand on her head. It was revealed that her nose was bleeding because of the impact from the contact she had with Sykes.

Colson was forced to leave the game. Fortunately for the Fever, the veteran guard returned to the game as it wasn’t a serious issue. The 5-foot-8 guard played 16 minutes and had seven points and three assists.

This was a better performance for Colson compared to their first game against the Mystics. The veteran player had four points, three rebounds and three assists in their 83-77 loss.

The next time the Fever will take on the Mystics will be on August 15.
