Friday’s 93-79 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks extended the Dallas Wings’ losing streak to four, dropping them to 1-8 on the season.

Los Angeles raced ahead behind Azurá Stevens’ 21 points and a blistering third quarter that turned a five-point lead into a 12-point advantage heading into the fourth.

Dallas cut the deficit early in the second half, but untimely turnovers and missed defensive rotations allowed the Sparks to pull away.

Arike Ogunbowale, usually the engine of the team, managed just eight points in a game in which the Wings were without their No. 1 overall pick, Paige Bueckers.

Despite the defeat, the Wings were able to celebrate one major milestone: Ogunbowale officially tied Diana Taurasi as the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 4,000+ points, 800+ assists and 600+ rebounds.

Taurasi’s name is synonymous with all-time greatness in women’s basketball. The fact that Ogunbowale matched Taurasi’s pace to reach those numbers in just 204 games speaks to her star power.

At Notre Dame, she hit back-to-back game-winning shots to secure the 2018 NCAA championship and was named Most Outstanding Player of that tournament.

Drafted fifth overall by Dallas in 2019, she quickly became the Wings’ best player.

Over the past six years, she has become a four-time All-Star (2021-24) with two All-Star Game MVPs (2021, 2024) and was the 2020 Scoring Champion and 2024 Steals Leader.

Ogunbowale has also earned three All-WNBA nods and holds career averages of 20.3 points, 3.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
