After getting blown out by the Golden State Valkyries in their previous game, A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces looked to get back on track.
On Wednesday, Wilson and the Aces fell to the Los Angeles Sparks 97-89 at Michelob ULTRA Arena, welcoming back two-time WNBA champion Kelsey Plum, who departed for LA in the offseason.
With roughly 5:07 remaining in the third quarter, Sparks forward Dearica Hamby was going up for a layup. However, Wilson was standing right there to block her shot.
As Wilson swatted the ball away, Hamby’s arm accidentally came down on the three-time MVP’s face. Wilson stayed in for a few more minutes before Kiah Stokes took her spot with 1:17 remaining in the third.
