BJ Penn may have incriminated himself during a court hearing on Friday, admitting that he violated his recent restraining order in effort to obtain banking information. The UFC legend was arrested on Thursday for this violation.
The court extended Penn’s protective order earlier this month following a collection of domestic issues involving his mother, Lorraine Shin. Penn is convinced that his mother actually isn’t his mother and it has sent the former UFC champion into a complete downward spiral.
On Friday, Penn spoke in court and was asked why he violated his restraining order by coming within 100 yards of their home. Surprisingly, Penn admitted to the violation and claimed that he needed to contact his mother in order to obtain banking information to fill out a form for legal representation.

“I can’t get access to my accounts so I asked,” said Penn while stumbling over his own words.
“Every time I ask her to get information about any of the accounts she says she’s going to kick me out of the house or get me arrested.”
Legal analysts were surprised that the court allowed Penn to make such an admittance because it can now be used against him. Penn’s next court hearing is currently scheduled for Wednesday, June 18.
