Playing in her first Grand Slam, world No. 361 Lois Boisson of France continued her fairytale run at Roland Garros 2025 with a 7–6(6) 6–3 victory over sixth seed Mirra Andreeva. The wildcard displayed remarkable composure, recovering from a break down on three separate occasions, in addition to the first-set tiebreak, to edge last year’s semifinalist in front of an electrified Parisian crowd.

It’s a miracle! World No. 361 Lois Boisson makes Roland Garros semifinals on Grand Slam debut

The 22-year-old Boisson twice recovered from a break down in the opening set and had three set points, two of which came courtesy of Andreeva’s double faults in a marathon 12th game that lasted nearly 12 minutes. After 68 minutes of intense baseline rallies and momentum swings, the set moved into a tiebreak.

Trailing 0–2 in the breaker, Boisson reignited the energy of the home crowd by reeling off four consecutive points. The tiebreak continued to be fiercely contested, with Andreeva earning her first set point at 6–5, but failing to convert. At 6–6, tension peaked inside the stadium. Boisson was then gifted her fourth set point—and this time, she made it count, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

The opening set lasted a grueling 80 minutes.

In the second set, Boisson once again clawed her way back from a break down, rallying from 1–3 to level at 3–3. With Andreeva serving at 30–0, a controversial line call went against her. The disputed point appeared to rattle the sixth seed, as Boisson earned three consecutive break points. Moments later, a nervous and visibly agitated Andreeva handed over the break with a double fault and her ship started sinking rapidly.

From there, Andreeva’s composure unraveled, while Boisson stayed rock solid. The fearless French wildcard sealed her fairytale win with a commanding love hold, sending the crowd into raptures.

Boisson’s semifinal opponent will be second seed Coco Gauff, who edged out fellow American Madison Keys in a fiercely contested quarterfinal earlier on Wednesday. The other semifinal, set yesterday, will see world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka take on four-time Roland Garros champion Iga Swiatek in a blockbuster showdown.
