Angel Reese Makes WNBA All-Star Admission originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

On Friday, the WNBA released the first returns in fan voting for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, which will take place on July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the home of the Indiana Fever.

Angel Reese’s place in the fan voting raised some eyebrows and brought up some feelings for the Chicago Sky forward.

She is the only player in the WNBA this season averaging a double-double, putting up 11.0 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.

Reese, who was selected as an All-Star during her rookie season in 2024, ranked 13th overall with 173,363 votes. She trailed the likes of Napheesa Collier and A’Ja Wilson among frontcourt options. Fever guard Caitlin Clark currently holds the No. 1 spot with 515,993 votes.

Reese was the most-voted Sky player, while her teammate Kamilla Cardoso came in at No. 22 with 95,986 votes.

Cardoso is averaging 11.4 points and 7.1 rebounds while shooting 51.9 percent for the struggling Sky, who enter Saturday’s game against the Phoenix Mercury with a 3-8 record.

The possibility of Cardoso joining her in Indianapolis made Reese recall a major downside of her experience at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game.

“I’m really proud of (Cardoso),” Reese said when asked about her teammate’s candidacy on Friday. “I think she should get the All-Star. I hope she’s there.”

“Last year it was kind of sad I wasn’t with anybody there,” Reese admitted. “Hopefully I can have somebody that I really, really know there (this year).”

Reese played for Team WNBA against Team USA in last year’s All-Star Game in Phoenix, where she was the only player included from Chicago.

Her team included a starting five of Clark, Arike Ogunbowale, DeWanna Bonner, Nneka Ogwumike and Jonquel Jones.
