The Connecticut Sun have had a brutal month, posting a 1-7 record.
The team has lost its last six games but will face more adversity after Tuesday’s injury update.

The Sun announced on their X account that veteran guard Marina Mabrey, whom they acquired via trade last July, will be out for up to a month due to a left knee injury.
“During the second quarter of the Connecticut Sun’s game against the Dallas Wings on June 20, Sun guard Marina Mabrey sustained a left knee injury,” said the team. “After further evaluation from medical staff, Marina is projected to return to game action in approximately 2-to-4 weeks.”
The injury comes as Mabrey ranks second on the team in scoring at 15.2 points per game, a mark that is the highest of her seven-year WNBA career. In addition to settling into her role as a reliable scorer, she has also been the team’s best distributor, leading the way with four assists per game.

To make matters worse, the Sun, who own a league-worst 2-12 record, are about to hit a tough stretch. To round out June, they’ll take on the Las Vegas Aces (6-7), Seattle Storm (9-5) and the Minnesota Lynx (12-1).

To open July, they will take on the Aces again before facing the Storm two more times.
With Mabery out, the Sun will need to rely on second-year guard Jacy Sheldon and veteran guard Bria Hartley, who combine for 14.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, to pick up the slack.
