The Golden State Valkyries are all set to host Chicago Sky on Friday, June 27th at the Chase Center, California. All eyes would be on star player Kamilla Cardoso, whether she starts against the Golden State Valkyries or not.

Will Kamilla Cardoso play against Golden State Valkyries?

The 24-year-old center is coming off a bomb game as a pro on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Sparks. The match was ultimately won by the Chicago Sky (97-86). In that match, Cardoso notched up 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists, going 10-for-15 from the field. However, the Sky will be without the services of Kamilla Cardoso for the Friday’s clash. 

There is nothing to worry about her health as the South Carolina star is not injured. It’s just that she will be playing for Brazil in the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup. She will be missing three games during her time with Brazil, from June 28th to July 6th. The competition is all set to take place in Santiago, Chile. If Brazil fails to do well in the event, then there’s a chance that Cardoso might return early. 

Kamilla Cardoso has had a season filled with ups and downs for the Chicago Sky. She would look lethal in one game, just as she did on Tuesday. But, in the following game, she will be fighting for minutes under her belt. She has been inconsistent this season but still she averages 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. 

In Cardoso’s absence, the franchise has the option of players like Elizabeth Williams and Michaela Onyenwere. The offensive workload’s pressure would be high on star Angel Reese. She is also coming off her best game against the LA Sparks. 

In that game, Reese had 18 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and four steals. She was terrific as she shot 6-12 from the field and 6-for-7 from the charity stripe. The victory ended Chicago Sky’s three game losing streaks.
