Paige Bueckers Makes Unexpected Decision After 13 WNBA Games originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Paige Bueckers has adapted quickly to life in the WNBA with the Dallas Wings.
The 2025 No. 1 overall draft pick out of UConn is making a strong case for Rookie of the Year by leading the Wings with her averages of 18.4 points, 5.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.9 blocks through her first 13 games.

Bueckers’ transition to the professional level happened in the blink of an eye. She got drafted just eight days after winning the 2024-2025 NCAA championship with the Huskies.
The quick jump from college to the WNBA may have helped Bueckers hit the ground running on the court, but it did not allow her much time to update her social profiles. That changed when she rocked fans with an unexpected change on Sunday.

After splitting a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday, Dallas does not have another game until Thursday. Bueckers used the downtime to make some moves on Instagram, including a slideshow post, multiple stories and a big change to her profile picture.
Until Sunday, the 23-year-old guard featured a photo of her at UConn as her profile picture. Now, her 2.7 million followers are greeted with an image of her in a Wings jersey.

Plenty of fans noticed the change, with the UConn faithful hit the hardest.
“paige pfp change omg,” wrote a fan on X.
“Paige changed her insta pfp it’s the end of an era,” mourned another user.
“paige really changed her pfp,” one reply said in disbelief.
“I really thought paige was going to keep her UConn pfp like lili (Aaliyah Edwards) and dorka (Dorka Juhasz),” wrote a stunned Huskies fan.
Bueckers’ belated social media refresh will not change her feelings about the historic basketball program she helped get its first national championship since 2016.
“Storrs, Connecticut will always be my second home and I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” she said in a post after leaving UConn in April. “I’m forever indebted and all I can say is THANK YOU.”
