Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who led all players with 1,293,526 votes, and Minnesota Lynx Forward Napheesa Collier, who received 1,176,020 votes from fans, were named team captains.
They will have the challenging task of picking four other starters and rounding out their respective squads from a pool of 12 reserves. While many fans will be keeping an eye on Clark and whether or not she drafts long-time rival Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year made it clear she already has two players on her mind.
When speaking to the media on Monday, Clark made it clear she plans to draft both of her Fever teammates, Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston.
“I think there’s a high chance Kels (Kelsey Mitchell) and AB (Aliyah Boston) are on my team,” Clark said. “I might trade the rest of my team for those two, but no I’m excited. I think it’ll be fun and that’s what the All-Star game is really about. Just giving the fans something to cheer about.”

Clark, who is an All-Star for the second time in two years, also expressed her desire to highlight the league as a whole, acknowledging its progress and future potential.
Fans are certainly eager to see her play in general as well, as a groin injury has kept her sidelined since the end of June. This season, she is averaging 18.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
As confirmed by Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files, the draft will take place on Monday evening, but will air on Tuesday, July 8, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN’s “WNBA Countdown.”
The game itself will be on July 19 and Air on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET.
