From walls lined with signed jerseys to shelves stacked with bobbleheads, Dodgers fans have been showcasing their devotion to the Boys in Blue while going head-to-head in our YouTube series, Dodgers Nation Fan Cave Battle.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to upgrade, here’s how you can build the ultimate Dodgers fan cave, featuring real tips from past series winners.
Words of Wisdom from the Past MVPs
Doug Slatten from Episode 8 insists that anyone building a fan cave should “take [their] time and search wisely,” adding, “start slow and don’t overspend.” His collection has taken over 10 years to build, and he stresses the importance of patience, especially when it comes to prices. And don’t buy bobbleheads the day after the game!
Just two weeks after we featured Doug’s man cave, he’s already expanded his Dodgers-themed bathroom, added a panoramic display of retired numbers, and tracked down rare Day of the Dead bobbleheads.
Roxanne Garcia from Episode 5 said that there was not much planning for her and her husband’s cave. “[We] picked up a couple of bobbleheads and never looked back!” she said. “It all came together naturally from our love of the team.”
Frank Guerrero, who kicked off our series in Episode 1, recommends starting simple: “A baseball, a picture, a special item. And just add as you go.” Most of his collection is DIY, and like others, he says it just evolved over time. Frank also highlighted how the Dodgers community plays a big role in building his collection, with friends, family, and local events contributing to the magic.
Since his victory, Frank and his wife Mary even came up with “Blue Heaven,” a custom drink they enjoy while watching games in their fan cave. Oh, and did we mention they built a full-sized walk-in cooler in their garage? Now that’s legendary.
Manny Valenzuela from Episode 4 reminds us that building a fan cave is a journey. Since being crowned that episode’s winner, he’s scored a Shohei Ohtani signed baseball and multiple pieces of Max Muncy memorabilia—proof that great things come with time.
The one thing they all have in common? A big, unwavering love for the team.
