Tempe, AZ – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) is pleased to announce today the return of the ITA National Summer Championships powered by WTN to the Leftwich Tennis Center on the campus of The University of Memphis.

As the crown jewel of the ITA Summer Series, the ITA National Summer Championships bring together top performers from both the ITA Summer Masters Series and the ITA Summer Points Race Series to compete for $20,000 in total prize money.

Hosted for the second straight year at the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, players and fans alike will experience world class amenities at one of the top facilities in all of the United States. Developed in partnership with Tennis Memphis and the University of Memphis, the Leftwich Tennis Center was named the 2024 USTA Featured Facility of the Year.

“We are delighted to have the ITA back for another year at Leftwich,” stated Memphis Head Men’s Tennis Coach Chris Doerr. “The ITA National Summer Championships is a phenomenal event and has some important implications for the NCAA Championship in the fall. We are honored to host this Championship once again.”

Featuring a 32-player men’s and women’s singles draw as well as a 16-team men’s and women’s doubles draw, the field of players will include many top ranked collegians and high-level junior players who have competed in the ITA Summer Series throughout June and July. Currently qualified players represent institutions such as Illinois, Baylor, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Northwestern to name a few.

In addition to the $20,000 in total prize money, current Division I student-athletes will also be competing for ITA All-American Championship wild cards, a tournament that is now a direct qualifier for the NCAA Fall Individual Championships. Additionally, any American finalists will be eligible for USTA pro-level wild cards.

Play will span from August 9-12 at the Leftwich Tennis Center with singles and doubles champions being crowned on Tuesday, August 12. Families and fans of competing athletes will be able to watch matches through TrackTennis cameras installed on site.

The player field will be finalized and published in the first week of August. Current automatic qualifiers include all singles semifinalists from the ongoing ITA Summer Masters Series powered by WTN.
