Angel Reese Doesn’t Deny Who the WNBA’s No. 1 Team Is originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky were in action on Monday night as they hosted the Minnesota Lynx for the second straight game. In the first matchup, the Sky took home the victory by a score of 87-81.

It was a different story on Monday, though. The game remained close throughout the first half but in the second, the Lynx outscored the Sky by 15 points to win 91-78.

Napheesa Collier led the way for Minnesota, putting up 29 points, three rebounds and five assists. As for Chicago, Reese recorded her ninth consecutive double-double, doing so this time with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

After the game, Reese spoke to the media and acknowledged that the Lynx are the league’s best team. With the victory, Minnesota now sits at 19-4 and holds a clear edge over the rest of the league.

“I think we defensively needed to step up.” Reese said. “They’re going to maximize off our turnovers. They’re the No. 1 team for a reason, and they came out and played like it tonight.”

Reese was right—not just about the Lynx’s place in the standings, but also about their defense on Monday night. Minnesota won the turnover battle 19–12 and scored 24 points off turnovers.

The Sky now fall to 7-14 and have one game remaining before Reese heads to Indianapolis for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game. They’ll host the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday at noon, with a chance to go into the break on a winning note.
