The trade deadline madness is already upon us as the Seattle Mariners landed slugging first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 28-year-old All-Star joins a team that has no shortage of power bats looking to make a deep October run — and the move officially kicks off trade season.
In other news, a pair of MLB veterans each called it a career on Thursday, as a pitcher and shortstop will now look to start the next chapter of their lives. Amid the many changes leading up to the trade deadline, the league landscape will certainly look different without the duo.
Finally, one of the crown jewels of the trade deadline, Eugenio Suarez of the Diamondbacks, is reportedly going to cost “a ton,” per a key insider. If the massive return isn’t met, Arizona could look to re-sign the two-time All-Star this offseason, he says.
