Cage Warriors – Europe’s leading MMA organisation – is proud to announce the signing of one of the continent’s most exciting rising stars, George “Saint” Staines. The undefeated 24-year-old Englishman joins the promotion on an exclusive, long-term multi-fight contract.
Originally from Hull, England, Staines made his mark on the UK amateur MMA scene, capturing and defending several prestigious titles. He then turned his attention to the international stage, winning gold at the 2020 European Championships and bronze at the 2022 World Championships.
Since turning professional in 2023, “Saint George” has compiled a flawless 6-0 record, with standout victories over respected opponents including Matty Elliott, Denis Frimpong, Jakub Tichota, and Hafeni Nafuka.
Following a brief free agency period earlier this year, Staines wasted no time in aligning his future with Cage Warriors.
“I’m so happy to be signing to Cage Warriors,” said Staines.“It’s a great promotion to show my skill set on and get my name out there. Signing will also give me the opportunity to be more active, like I’ve been asking for a while. I feel like I’ll really come into my own with Cage Warriors.”
A return to the UK fight scene is another highlight Staines is eagerly anticipating.
“There’s a lot of things that I’m looking forward to, the first one being fighting back in the UK!” he continued.“It feels like such a long time since I have. It’ll be great to have everyone coming to watch me live in the arena again. Also fighting on UFC Fight Pass is something I’m really looking forward to. It’s another great opportunity for me to really showcase to the world how good I am.”
Training out of the renowned Next Generation MMA gym in Liverpool, Staines brings a technical, high-paced style to the cage – one that he believes will impress fans and opponents alike.
“The Cage Warriors fans can expect a high level, high paced fight from me, where I’ll technically break down my opponent and smash them,” said Staines.“Cool, calm and collected is what I am. I can beat anyone, anywhere – wherever the fight may go, I’m always ready!”
Details on Staines’ Cage Warriors debut – and his first appearance in the famous yellow gloves – are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
