Black Ops 7 release date reportedly set for November

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to be released later this year, but Microsoft has yet to announce a release date for the game. It looks like the company could have been beaten to the punch, though, if prominent leaker billbil-kun is to be believed. 

In a new report on Dealabs, reliable leaker billbil-kun has said that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be released on November 14, 2025. The date was previously rumoured by leaker TheGhostOfHope in July, but is all but confirmed with billbil-kun reporting it, given the leaker’s near-100% success rate with correct information. 

According to the report, Black Ops 7 will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, all of which will reportedly have a physical release, as well as PC. Billbil-kun also says that preorders will open shortly after gamescom Opening Night Live, on August 20, suggesting that the release date could be announced during the presentation. It was previously announced that Call of Duty Black Ops 7 would be fully revealed at gamescom, all but confirming a release date is imminent. 

Notably, the leaker also claims that a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game will not be available this year, at least not at launch. The report leaves open the possibility that it could be released at a later date, be it later in 2025 or in 2026, but nothing is confirmed at this stage. 

It comes after a 2023 agreement that Microsoft made with Nintendo, affirming that Nintendo’s consoles would get 10 years of Call of Duty releases if its acquisition of Activision Blizzard was successful — which it ultimately was. The agreement, which was announced by Microsoft vice chair Brad Smith on Twitter, did not mention when the agreement would come into place, but confirmed that Nintendo players would get “full feature and content parity” with Xbox and PlayStation players. It also says that it would be available “on the same day as Xbox,” suggesting that Black Ops 7 won’t be the starting point for the Switch 2. 

It launches to the most competition the series has seen in years, though, with the upcoming Battlefield 6 launching a month prior to the mooted release date of Black Ops 7. While the Battlefield series has been on ice in recent years, it’s aiming to make a big comeback with the next game, and if early signs are anything to go by, it’s set to give Call of Duty a run for its money.

It seems we’re not the only ones who think so, either, as the Battlefield 6 open beta was so popular that publisher EA had to increase the server capacity, as player queues ballooned out to hours.
