President Peña to Join Global Mobility and Motorsport Leaders as Paraguay Hosts Upcoming FIA American Congress

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide will host the FIA American Congress 2025 in Paraguay this August. Held in Asunción, and to be opened by President Santiago Peña alongside FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the congress is a flagship event on the international mobility and motor sport calendar, bringing together delegates from more than 20 countries across the Americas.

From 25-27 August, the Sheraton Asunción Hotel will welcome participants for a programme hosted in association with the Touring y Automóvil Club Paraguayo (TACPy). The event will set the stage for a historic moment in Paraguayan motor sport as the country debuts on the FIA World Rally Championship calendar with the WRC Rally del Paraguay in the Itapúa region.

Congress Topics and InnovationsThe main theme of the 2025 FIA Congress will be “Safe Mobility and Motor Sport in the Americas.”

The programme will address four key areas:

Road safety and traffic educationInnovation and new technologies in mobilityMotor sportThe role of automobile clubs in social transformation

The congress will include workshops, panel discussions, and dialogues with mobility experts, leaders of automobile clubs, and members of the Federation. It will also host the FIA Innovation Challenge – a global competition aimed at identifying and promoting innovative projects from FIA mobility members that foster growth, development, and knowledge sharing. Its goal is to harness the transformative power of the FIA community worldwide while encouraging collaboration and exchange.

Alongside the official programme, a special social evening will be organised for international participants, featuring traditional Paraguayan cuisine, music, and dance, as well as a live craft exhibition. This will be an authentic cultural experience, showcasing the warmth and rich heritage of the country while creating opportunities for connection among the visiting delegations.
