A couple of teams that have shot up the standings and are jockeying for position meet up on Tuesday, Aug. 19 when the Las Vegas Aces host the Atlanta Dream at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.
The game is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on NBA TV. Fans looking to watch this WNBA game can do so for free by using DIRECTV, which offers a free trial. FuboTV offers up to $30 off your first month. SlingTV doesn’t offer a free trial but has promotional offers available.
These teams first met about a month ago, also in Las Vegas, and the Aces won 87-72. However, the Dream were with Rhyne Howard and Las Vegas had Jewell Loyd in the starting lineup, two things that will be different in this matchup.
After that first meeting, the Aces lost consecutive games, then, moved Loyd to the bench, and they have lost just once as the six-time All-Star has provided a necessary scoring punch for the second unit. Loyd has three 20-point games since taking on the new role, and has scored fewer than 10 just once.
Howard has been Atlanta’s leading scorer in its last three games, helping to pick up the slack left in the wake of Jordin Canada’s injury absence. The Dream have won seven of their last eight, and had a six-game winning streak going before a 2-point loss in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada against the Seattle Storm on Friday. The Aces now have the league’s longest active winning streak at seven games.
Atlanta is second in the standings at 22-12 while the Aces are in the fifth spot at 21-14, only separated by a 1.5 games.
