The popular NBA2K video game has recently released the player ratings for its 2K26 edition, which will be out on September 5th. For the WNBA edition, there were mixed reactions when NBA2K first revealed the names of the players with the best 10 ratings.
In particular, many questioned why Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, at 96, had a higher rating than Sabrina Ionescu (93) and Nneka Ogwumike (92), and why Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese even made it to the Top 10 with 90.

Reese was recently approached by a reporter in practice and asked what she thinks about her rating. To the journalist’s surprise, Angel did not know what her rating was and didn’t even seem to care.
“I don’t know my rating,” she said, and when told that her rating put her in the Top 10 in the league, she replied, “Oh, okay, does that mean something?”
Critics say Reese isn’t a Top 10 player in the WNBA
As per NBA2K’s tweet on August 15th, Minnesota Lynx superstar and leading MVP candidate Napheesa Collier is the top-rated NBA 2K 26 player with a rating of 98. She is followed by reigning MVP A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty’s Star Breanna Stewart, who both have a 97 rating. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who was last year’s Rookie of the Year, came in 4th with a 96.

The other players in the Top 10 are Alyssa Thomas of the Phoenix Mercury (95), Ionescu (93), Ogwumike (92), Satou Sabally, also of the Phoenix Mercury (92), New York Liberty’s Jonquel Jones (92), and Angel (90). However, aside from Clark, the other payer who got mixed reactions was Reese.
While she was already rated at 90 in the 2025 edition of the video game, what many don’t agree on is the fact that Reese lands in the Top 10, which reflects that the iconic game looks at her as a Top 10 player in the league. Many fans don’t think it is the case, despite Angel leading the league in rebounds for the second straight season, and her double-double records.

Angel is the NBA 2K26 cover athlete
Looking at the breakdown of Reese’s rating, the site 2kratings.com notes that she is a 90 with a defensive anchor build. Among her attributes, her rebounding stands out at 95, while her athleticism is 84. Angel’s weakest is playmaking, which is just at 64, while her inside scoring is at 67. However, what makes Angel stand out this season among her peers is the fact that she is the cover athlete for the 2K’s WNBA edition game for 2026.

“NBA 2K26 is celebrating the bold, the confident and the visionaries, and WNBA All-Star Angel Reese carries all that on and off the court,” said NBA 2K general manager Zak Armitage. “In her sophomore year in the WNBA, Angel Reese has made waves, created impactful conversations, and inspired the next generation. She’s a storyteller and has helped the WNBA grow its audience.”
Of course, being on the game’s cover does not affect the player’s rating, or at least it shouldn’t. If you look at the 2K26 NBA version, however, SGA is the cover athlete, and he and Nikola Jokic have the highest NBA ratings for the 2026 game at 98.
