Connecticut Sun center Tina Charles and Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson were named the WNBA’s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Aug. 18–24, the league announced Tuesday.
For Charles, it marked her 33rd career Player of the Week honor—the most in league history. The 12-time All-Star also earned her 11th such award with Connecticut and her first since Sept. 12, 2021, when she played for the Washington Mystics. Wilson collected her 27th Player of the Week honor, tying Candace Parker for second all-time behind Charles.
Charles Extends Record, Reaches 200 Career Double-Doubles
Charles helped the Sun to a perfect 3-0 week, averaging 19.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steals. She began the stretch with 13 points and nine rebounds in an 80-69 road victory over Washington on Aug. 19.
Two days later, she delivered a team-high 21 points with six rebounds and two steals in a 67-56 home win against the Mystics. That performance also saw Charles move into sole possession of 10th place all-time in games played, reaching 464.

To close the week, Charles recorded her 200th career double-double in a 94-84 win against the Chicago Sky on Aug. 24. She finished with 23 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and a block, becoming the only player in WNBA history to achieve 200 double-doubles. It was her 86th in a Sun uniform and her sixth of the 2025 season.
Charles’ honor adds to a decorated résumé that includes a league MVP award in 2012 and recognition as one of the WNBA’s greatest rebounders and interior scorers. She has now earned Player of the Week honors with three different franchises: Connecticut, New York, and Washington.
The Sun (24-12) return to action Wednesday with a road matchup against the Dallas Wings.
Wilson Powers Aces’ Win Streak, Ties Parker on All-Time List
Wilson continued her dominant season, leading the Aces to a 3-0 record while averaging 29.0 points on 53.2% shooting, 12.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.0 assists, and 1.3 steals. In a 74-72 win at Atlanta on Aug. 19, she posted 32 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks, and four assists.
She became the fastest player in league history to reach 5,500 career points. In addition, Charles is the youngest to pair that milestone with 2,000 rebounds.
The reigning MVP added 19 points and 13 rebounds in an 83-61 win over Phoenix on Aug. 21, marking her 117th career double-double. She capped the week with 30 points and 10 rebounds in a 91-81 win against Washington on Aug. 23, her league-leading 10th 30-point game this season.

Wilson, who has now recorded 34 career games with at least 30 points, leads the league in total points (789), total rebounds (346), blocks per game (2.2), and player efficiency rating (32.3) through Aug. 25. The Aces (25-14) have won 11 consecutive games heading into Wednesday’s contest at the Atlanta Dream, a matchup between two of the top teams in the standings.
With her fifth weekly honor of 2025, Wilson matched the Western Conference single-season record of six Player of the Week awards, a mark she first tied in 2024. She is also one away from the overall league record of seven, held by three players in the Eastern Conference.
