Sinner is the defending champion at the 2025 US Open, having won last year’s title by defeating Taylor Fritz in the final. Świątek claimed her first title at Flushing Meadows in 2022, triumphing over Ons Jabeur in the final. Osaka has won two titles in New York, in 2018 and 2020, against Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka, respectively.

On the women’s side of the draw, Świątek is set to face eighth seed Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals of the 2025 US Open. The two have previously met only once on the WTA Tour, in the final of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, where Świątek triumphed with a score of 6-0, 6-0. This victory marked the Pole’s first title at the London Major and her sixth overall Grand Slam title.
The winner of the quarterfinal match between Świątek and Anisimova will face either 11th seed Karolína Muchová or Osaka in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Osaka will compete against Muchová in the other quarterfinal match. They have faced each other four times on the WTA Tour, with each player winning twice. Their most recent encounter was in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open, where the former World No. 1 emerged victorious with a score of 1-6, 6-1, 6-3.
