Conor McGregor’s return at the UFC White House event looks to be a real possibility, and speculation is beginning to heat up regarding who could be standing across the octagon from him.
The UFC’s first—and likely only—ever card at America’s iconic landmark has been met with much excitement from fans. According to Dana White, the promotion will do everything in its power to provide the greatest card in company history when they touch down on the White House lawn in 2026.
One man heavily linked with his long-awaited return to the cage on that date is Conor McGregor. Having to juggle a fight camp with his political ambitions and legal issues may be a tall task for McGregor, but one he is welcoming.
The Irishman isn’t the only huge name linked to the White House card. MMA veteran Brendan Schaub trusts that the UFC will have some surprises come July 4.
“There’s gonna be some big names,” Schaub revealed. “I think it’s gonna be Conor or Jon [Jones]. It’s one of those two. I think so.”
“I think they’re gonna [go] all out. I think they’re gonna throw caution to the wind… So, I think you could see Jon vs. Francis [Ngannou]. I think you’re gonna get something crazy.”
“Jon vs. Francis. Jon vs. Alex Pereira. Jon vs. [Tom] Aspinall. You’re gonna see something like that.”

If ‘The Notorious’ does make the walk to the octagon during America’s 250th birthday, Schaub believes that there are a handful of opponents that would spark a lot of interest for the Irishman’s comeback.
“You get Conor vs. Nate [Diaz]. [Michael] Chandler. Chandler’s gonna be on that card. He’s as American as they get, and he wants to. He loves [Donald] Trump.”
“So, you do Conor vs. Chandler, Conor vs. Nate, [or] Conor vs. Paddy Pimblett.”
