History

ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Buffalo State women’s soccer team fell on the road to the Elmira Soaring Eagles, 4-2, in their latest non-conference matchup.

THE BASICS

FINAL SCORE: Elmira College – 4, Buffalo State – 2
LOCATION: Campus Field – Elmira, NY
RECORDS: Buffalo State: 1-3-1 (0-0-0 SUNYAC), Elmira College: 1-3-0 (0-0-0 Empire 8)

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

Olivia Kilmer (Hammondsport, NY/Avoca) and Lilly Jaroszewski (El Paso, TX/Coronado) each recorded a goal for the Bengals, with Emily Maczka (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville North) and Willa Overton (Watertown, NY/Watertown) picking up assists for the goals.
Taylor Clisson (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) started and played a complete game for the Bengals, making four saves in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Coming off a draw against I-90 rival SUNY Brockport, the Buffalo State Bengals entered their matchup with Elmira College full of energy. That momentum paid off early, as the Bengals struck first in the 26th minute to grab the lead over the Soaring Eagles.
Elmira answered quickly with an equalizer in the 31st minute, but the Bengals refused to back down. Behind strong team defense, the Bengals regained control with a goal in the 39th minute, taking a 2-1 advantage into the break.
The second half told a different story. The Soaring Eagles came out firing, netting back-to-back goals to seize their first lead of the day. Despite the Bengals’ push for a late equalizer, the Soaring Eagles added insurance in the 76th minute to close out a 4-2 win over the Bengals in a hard-fought contest.

FOR THE FOES

Anna Chunco led the Soaring Eagles’ attack with two goals and an assist, while Emily Seiler and Faith Ingber each added a goal. Isabella Reuter and Ingber also recorded assists.
Goalkeeper Sarah Cantrell stood tall in net, leading all players with 12 saves in a full 90 minutes of action.

UP NEXT
The Bengals return home to Coyer Field, with a matchup with Hilbert College on Saturday, September 13th at 4:00 P.M.
