G2 Esports haven’t had the best time in 2025, with their performance raising eyebrows. Fans began to question the team’s illustrious legacy with their title-less performance, but the team’s top laner, Brokenblade, says they’ve learned from their mistakes.

“The only team that has performed better than [other teams] in previous splits is us right now. And I think that is because we are actively working on our things,” BrokenBlade said in an interview with Sheep Esports. “Our team had problems in previous splits, but we came into Summer Split and we just fixed them. We said we have to get this shit done or we’re not going to win a split. And I think we are about to be doing it,” he added, showing the shift in mentality of the players.

While reaching two consecutive LEC Split finals in a year would be considered a success for many European teams, G2 have built themself a reputation with far higher standards. For them, anything short of lifting the trophy is a disappointment for the players and fans.

The team lost the finals to Karmine Corp in the Winter Split and Movistar KOI in the Spring Split, making this Summer Split their only chance to claim a trophy and build momentum heading into Worlds 2025 in China later this year.

Adding to their woes, the team also suffered an early exit from MSI 2025, but the top laner has assured fans that, amid the “crumbling” European teams, G2 stands strong on the right track with good chances of getting the last LEC trophy this year.

G2 will play Movistar KOI next on Sept. 14, 2025, in the upper bracket match of the LEC Summer Split playoffs to secure their place in the grand finals. Both teams have already confirmed their spot in Worlds 2025.
