KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Chase Briscoe continued his run as the king of qualifying in the NASCAR Cup Series Saturday afternoon at Kansas Speedway.
The driver of the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota turned a lap of 29.987 seconds at 180.078 mph to win the pole for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 at the 1.5-mile race track.
It as Briscoe’s seventh pole of the season, which is the most by a single driver during the Next Gen car era. It is the ninth pole of Briscoe’s career.
Briscoe will share the front row with his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin.
Kyle Larson starts third in a Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet, with his teammate Chase Elliott alongside.
Fifth went to Christopher Bell in a third JGR Toyota.
No Fords qualified in the top 10, as the second five qualifiers were Carson Hocevar, Bubba Wallace, Ty Gibbs, Ross Chastain and Erik Jones.
