Ethan Katzburg, CAN, took the gold in the Tokyo World Athletics Championships. Ethan won the Olympic gold medal in Paris 2024 and also in Budapest 2023.

In Tokyo, Ethan Katzburg, CAN, threw 84.70m PB, or 277 feet, 10.5 inches! Ethan is the finest Male hammer thrower in the world. His form and technique are amazing.

This is what Ethan said in the Mixed Zone in Tokyo to the media:

“I can’t ask for much more. The whole field was gunning for it and these were incredible results with four guys over 80 metres. That really pushed me to get the result that I had today. When I am looking forward to major championships, this is what I want, really high level competition. I am two metres away from the world record but I am getting closer. I will continue to push myself and push the limits of what I can do. It took a lot of hard training for this personal best. After 84.70m, I was really trying to go for it. There was no point I thought of doing any less. I was missing a few throws but still to throw 82 metres is also amazing. Camryn (Rogers, CAN) put the pressure on me to perform tonight. I watched her win the women’s (hammer) final. It was an incredible performance from her, so for Canada to win the men’s hammer tonight as well is amazing. Before I head home, I want to get some Pokemon cards. I need to find some cool Japanese cards. I have never been to Japan before. I am experiencing the whole culture. There’s amazing food. I am bringing some speciality green tea and macha home. My girlfriend is into that.”
