Sarina Wiegman has led England to back-to-back successes at the Euros

Although Sarina Wiegman is safe in her England job for now, we’ve explored who could take over when the manager eventually steps down. According to the latest odds, Emma Hayes is the current favourite to take over as England manager.

Next England Women Manager odds

Emma Hayes 2/1
Laura Harvey 5/1
Sonia Bompastor 7/1
Casey Stoney 8/1
Marc Skinner 9/1
Montse Tomé 10/1
Renée Slegers 10/1
Jonatan Giráldez 10/1
Lluís Cortés 12/1
Peter Gerhardsson 16/1
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg 20/1
Nick Cushing 25/1

Emma Hayes refuses to rule out England job

Barclays Women's Super League match between Manchester United and Chelsea at Old Trafford in Manchester, north west England, on May 18, 2024.

Although she has asserted herself as one of the best managers in the history of women’s football, Emma Hayes has still never managed England.

The former Chelsea manager won almost everything with the Blues between 2012 and 2024. Chelsea won a historic seven WSL titles during her time at the club, however the Champions League always eluded her team.

Hayes has also proved that she can take charge of an international team though as she is currently USA boss.

With the USA Hayes has continued her winning career. The manager guided her super team to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

When she was asked this summer about a potential future as England manager, Hayes admitted that it was something she will “never say never” to.

She may be favourite to take over from Sarina Wiegman, but it would be a major shock to see either lose their job before the 2027 World Cup.

Former Arsenal boss Laura Harvey in the running

New US WU20 head coach, Laura Harvey

According to the traders at SheKicks, Laura Harvey is 5/1 to replace Sarina Wiegman.

Harvey is best known for her time in the WSL with Arsenal between 2008 and 2012.

The WSL was very different while Harvey was in England and when she first took over Arsenal the league wasn’t even founded yet.

After England’s top flight was first formed in 2010, Harvey quickly established herself as one of the best managers in women’s football.

The Arsenal boss was named FAWSL Manager of the Year in 2011. The Gunners won three consecutive league titles before Harvey departed the club in 2012.

Since she left North London, Harvey has been making a name for herself across the pond.

The veteran manager has taken charge of Seattle Reign (twice) and Utah Royals, where she became the first coach to win 200 games in the NWSL.

Could Sonia Bompastor guide England to World Cup?

At longer odds to take over England is the current Chelsea manager, Sonia Bompastor.

The French coach could follow in Wiegman’s footsteps in being a foreign manager to guide the nation to glory.

Since she took over Chelsea at the beginning of last year the club has been as formidable as ever. In her first campaign, the former French international won the WSL – going unbeaten through the whole league season.

The Blues have still never lost a league game under Bompastor with Chelsea on a 31-game unbeaten run.

Much like with Emma Hayes though, the Champions League is still the one title that has eluded Bompastor in London – despite only being there for one year.

The 45-year-old does have an incredible record in Europe however, with four Champions League titles with Lyon in France.

Her prowess in Europe is one of the main reasons that Chelsea chose to hire Bompastor as they look to finally get over the impossible hump.

Former Lioness Casey Stoney amongst candidates

San Diego's new head coach, Casey Stoney

The shortest odds for a former Lioness to take charge of England is Casey Stoney, who is priced at 8/1.

Stoney arguably knows England better than any other of the contenders having earned 130 caps for her nation. The 43-year-old was also named captain of the Lionesses during her career.

The former midfielder isn’t just known for her playing career however, as Stoney has taken charge of San Diego, Manchester United and now Canada.

Stoney has already won with Canada, who she guided to the 2025 Pinatar Cup during her first year in charge of the national team.

At the beginning of her managerial career Stoney joined Phil Neville’s backroom staff for England. She is the only manager on this list to already have experience with the Lionesses.
