TAMPA, Fla., October 25, 2025 —Three members of the South Florida women’s basketball team have been named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award Watch List, presented annually by Her Hoop Stats. Guards Edyn Battle, Katie Davidson and Kirsten-Lewis Williams were among 25 student-athletes recognized nationally.
This year’s watch list features representatives from 19 teams and 12 conferences. South Florida is one of five programs to place multiple players on the list and leads all schools with three selections. The Bulls’ trio ties Gonzaga’s 2023-24 team for the most players named to a single watch list in the award’s history.
Battle, a transfer from Jacksonville University, was an All-ASUN First Team selection during the 2024-25 season. She recorded double figures in 25 games for the Dolphins while ranking among the league’s top scorers.
Davidson joins the Bulls after an outstanding career at IU Indy, where she earned First-Team All-Horizon League honors in 2024-25 and Second-Team All-League recognition in 2023-24. Last season, she averaged 19.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.6 steals, starting all 18 games and posting 16 double-digit scoring efforts.
Lewis-Williams transfers to South Florida following a standout season at Buffalo, where she helped the Bulls capture the WNIT Championship. A Second-Team All-MAC performer, she started all 36 games and averaged 13.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game, including 27 double-figure scoring outings and three double-doubles.
About Becky Hammon
Hammon was a three-time All-American at Colorado State and led the Rams to the Sweet 16 in 1999, the program’s only appearance to date. She was signed by the New York Liberty in 1999 and traded to the San Antonio Stars in 2007, where she played the rest of her career. Hammon retired in 2014 as a six-time All-Star and a two-time All-WNBA First Team honoree. In 2016, she was named one of the top 20 players in WNBA history and was named to the W25 in 2021.
Hammon became the second female coach in NBA history when she began coaching for the San Antonio Spurs in 2014. Additionally, Hammon is the only woman to be a head coach in the NBA Summer League and the only woman to be a member of an NBA All-Star coaching staff. Currently, Hammon is the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces and has won the 2022, 2023 and 2025 WNBA Championships.
