Tempe, AZ – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (“ITA”) is pleased to share the completion of a documentary centered around rising tennis star Jay Friend, a senior at the University of Arizona, as he competed at the 2025 ITA Men’s All-American Championships. Out now for college tennis fans to enjoy, the full documentary can be found on the ITA YouTube Channel.
Within this documentary, fans will be given access to Friend’s pursuit of his first ITA All-American Singles Title at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of The University of Tulsa. Fans will watch as Friend navigates from match to match throughout the tournament and how his strong bonds with his head coach Clancy Shields has helped Friend reach new heights as a player.
Finishing as the No. 9 ranked singles player at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Friend entered this fall ranked No. 5 in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings and as one of the top seeded players in the ITA All-American field. Building off of a strong summer in which he won gold at the FISU Summer World Games in Germany, Friend showcases his development as a player throughout this documentary as he competes in his final season with Arizona.
As the first documentary in a series of planned feature pieces alongside some of our sports top players, other upcoming video features will include the likes of Valerie Glozman (Stanford) as well as athletes competing at the ITA Conference Masters Championships, NCAA Individual Championships, and the Master’U BNP Paribas Championships.
