Championship leaders Falkirk have been knocked out of the ScottishPower National League Cup at the last 16 stage by League One side St Mirren, one of a number of eye-catching scores on a Sunday focused on SWF’s senior cups.

With the SWPL paused for international camp, the ScottishPower National League Cup entered the Last 16 stage, and goals from Helen McLeod and Cara Anderson helped the Buddies reach the quarter finals with a stunning victory against the Bairns at Mossedge.

St Mirren were not the only side from Scotland’s fourth tier to progress, with Inverurie Locos beating Glasgow Girls 4-0 in the early kick-off and Glenrothes Strollers beating Dunipace 2-1 at Overstenton Park with goals from Demi Gear and Kerry Forsyth.

Westdyke carried a comfortable 3-0 lead over Cambusdoon in Ayrshire after an hour, but a sensational comeback from the home side took the tie to extra time, with quick goals from Kelsie Bradley and Sarah Tait then a dramatic injury-time equaliser from Bradley again to extend the game. However it would be the northeast team who would progress, winning the penalty shootout 4-2.

Elsewhere, Forfar Farmington rocked Inverness Caledonian Thistle with a 7-1 home win, and there were big wins also for Dryburgh Athletic, who humbled Morton 8-2 and Bonnyrigg Rose, who came from behind to win 7-2 at Edinburgh Caledonia. Stenhousemuir found some comeuppance against a Rossvale side who had beaten them in league duty last week, winning 4-1 at Ochilview.

In the ScottishPower Regional League Cup, holders Edinburgh University Thistle are through to the next round after beating Dumbarton 5-3, while Plate holders Cumbernauld United also progress, beating Gleniffer Thistle 10-2 at home.

They are among the sides to join the group stage winners in the next round. In their rearranged SWFL North tie, Huntly beat Buckie Ladies 5-3 in a dramatic match at Christie Park, including four goals from Lucy Taylor.
