Caitlin Clark had a forgettable second season with the Indiana Fever in 2025. After an unprecedented campaign as a rookie last year, the Iowa Hawkeyes legend battled through injuries throughout 2025, resulting in just 13 games played throughout the campaign. In September, the Fever announced that Clark would miss the remainder of the WNBA season due to a groin injury.

Since then, Clark has been working behind the scenes to get her body right. This is in anticipation of her return to the court when the 2026 season starts in May. At this point, Clark’s groin is healthy enough for her to take part in an offseason sporting event outside the WNBA.

For a second year running, Clark participated in the pro-am that precedes one of the most highly anticipated LPGA events of the season, THE ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican Golf Club.

Clark made waves at the pre-tournament event last year, and the same was the case for the former WNBA Rookie of the Year on Wednesday. She even brought along Fever teammates Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull as special caddies for the event.

On Thursday, Clark took to Instagram to share photos from her offseason decision to participate in the high-profile golfing event. She included a statement referencing Cunningham and Hull.

“went golfing with my friends🩵” Clark wrote.

It wasn’t just her Fever teammates who were with Clark on Wednesday, though. She teamed up with some of her other “friends” during the game, which included top professional golfer Nelly Korda and the tournament’s founder, golfing icon Annika Sorenstam.

“It’s always cool when you see the amount of people that come out and want to support not only myself, but just women’s sports in general,” Clark said of the event, via LPGA.com. “We’re in a very exciting time where all sports across the board are seeing more and more viewership and more people buying tickets, more people buying merchandise, whatever it is. That’s a really exciting thing. I’ve always been a fan of women’s sports, whether it’s basketball, but honestly more so other sports because I grew up playing all of them.

“So I think that’s just a really special thing that even though this isn’t my main sport, I’m not that great at it, people still love the opportunity to be out here and support you. They get to know all these other golfers as well and they continue to follow them. They come and stay for the weekend, and they support these women. I think that’s just a really cool and special thing. It’s not anything you ever take for granted.”

Clark, who averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.2 triples this past season, is expected to make a full recovery from her groin injury in time for the start of the new WNBA season in May 2026. She is currently one of just three players under contract with the Fever for the upcoming campaign, alongside Aliyah Boston and Makayla Timpson.
